You can travel from Brisbane to Surfers Paradise and the Gold Coast and return easily in a day by train and light rail. Catch any Queensland Rail Gold Coast (Varsity Lakes) train from Brisbane Central station, Brisbane Roma Street station, South Brisbane station or even Brisbane Airport stations. Trains depart every 30 minutes and take just a little over an hour to reach Helensvale from Roma Street. Get off at at Helensvale station and make the very short walk to connect into the Gold Coast Light Rail tram that will take you direct to the coast - stopping at Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. You can use your Go Card for the whole journey. Trams run very frequently all day long.

Day trip by train to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland
You can travel from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast hinterland towns of Glasshouse Mountains, Landsborough or Nambour and return easily in a day by train. Catch any Queensland Rail Nambour or Gympie North train from Brisbane Central or Brisbane Roma Street station for the 90 minute journey North to Landsborough or half an hour more to Nambour. Trains depart every one to two hours. If you wish, you can connect at Landsborough station to Maleny on the Hinterland Connect bus service - it's only a short 12 minute bus ride across to Maleny, and between 5 and 8 buses run each way each day scheduled to connect conveniently at Landsborough station with trains to and from Brisbane.

You can travel from Brisbane to Noosa on the Sunshine Coast and return easily in a day by train and bus. Catch a Queensland Rail Nambour or Gympie North train from Brisbane Central or Brisbane Roma Street station to Nambour, then change to the route 630 or 631 bus that will take you up to Noosa.
